Ibogaine has drawn federal and academic attention as a candidate treatment for traumatic brain injury, PTSD, and substance use disorders affecting US service members. The Stanford 2024 Nature Medicine study examined magnesium-ibogaine therapy in 30 Special Operations Forces veterans; Texas SB 2308 (2025) committed $50M to ibogaine clinical trials; and NDAA Section 723 (FY2024) authorized DoD-funded research into psychedelic-assisted therapy. Ibogaine remains Schedule I under US federal law. Ibogaine treatment access for US veterans is generally limited to providers outside the United States, and the Department of Veterans Affairs does not fund or facilitate ibogaine treatment. Several international providers — including some listed in our Mexico and Bahamas directories — offer veteran-specific programs or veteran discounts.
